We always advise customers to be professionally measured but the following guide will give you advice on how to measure your bra size for lingerie and bra size swimwear.....
Remember, even if your bra fits right now, it doesn’t take much for that to change. Weight fluctuations can affect your bra size, but so can body shape changes brought on by, say, exercise, your monthly cycle, pregnancy, ageing and HRT. And even if none of the above applies to you, we still recommend checking your bra size every 6 months.
Experts believe 80% of women have on the wrong size bra – with a back size that is too big and a cup size that is too small. The result? Poorly supported breasts and an unflattering figure. And that’s at the very least.
The correct bra on the other hand can look and feel amazing. As well as offering the right amount of support, it puts all of your curves back in the right places and can totally transform your figure, your silhouette and your confidence. And get you back to loving your body again.
How To Measure your Bra Size:-
Step 1 - Measuring your band size
Using a tape measure, measure all the way around your body just underneath your breasts. The tape should be tight around your body and level across your back. Write down this measurement in inches, rounding up or down to the nearest even number.
For example, if you are 34 1/4 inches then round down to 34.
If you are 35 1/4 inches then round up to 36.
This measurement is your band or back size.
Step 2 - Measuring your cup size
Now gently measure the fullest point around your breasts, remembering to keep the tape measure level across your back. Make a note of this measurement in inches rounding up to the nearest whole number.
The difference between this measurement and your band size is used to work out your cup size as follows:
Difference Cup Size
Less than 1 inch AA cup
1 inch A cup
2 inches B cup
3 inches C cup
4 inches D cup
5 inches DD cup
6 inches E cup
7 inches F cup
8 inches FF cup
9 inches G cup
10 inches GG cup
11 inches H cup
12 inches HH cup
13 inches J cup
For Example
If your band size came out as 34 inches and your bust measurement was 39 inches then you would need to first try a 34DD bra size.
We say, "try", because everybody's shape is different and you won't really know until you try a size whether it is right or not.
How to tell if your bra is the right size:-
1. The right bra should fit firmly and snugly underneath your breasts on the loosest fit of the clasp. This is because as you wash and wear your bra/swimwear, it will give slightly and if you start with the bra fitting on the loosest fit you will be able to adjust the band size tighter as the bra becomes more worn.
2. You should be able to slide 2 fingers underneath the band but not much more. If the band pulls a long way away from the body then it is too big.
3. The centre of the bra/swimwear should sit flat on the middle of your chest inbetween your boobs. There should not be a gap.
